Rs 640 crore PWD scam accused YP Singh nabbed

AGARTALA, February 17, 2020: Former Tripura Chief Secretary Yashpal Singh who was wanted in connection with Rs 640 crore PWD scam of 2008 has been arrested at Ghaziabad Monday. Uttar Pradesh police detained him based on a requisition request sent by its Tripura counterpart.
Singh was on the run for almost five months after he was named in the FIR registered in the west Agartala police station.
A police team from Tripura headed by a senior official reached Ghaziabad. The detainee is likely to be produced in a court there to hear prayer on his transit remand.
PWD Minister Badal Choudhury, former PWD engineer-in-chief Sunil Bhowmik and ex-chief secretary Yashpal are key accused persons named in the multi crore PWD graft case.
CPI(M) veteran Badal Choudhury, who was a minister in four successive left front governments and inclement deputy leader of opposition in state assembly, and Sunil Bhowmik spent months in jail before securing bail recently.
