Police probe in biggest ATM heist in Tripura

AGARTALA, November 17, 2019: The Cyber Crime Cell of Tripura police has on Sunday spotted the ATM booths where skimmer devices were fixed to commit biggest bank heist in the state. The fraud was detected after dozens of people complained losing hefty money from their account over past three days.
The victims were essentially customers of the State Bank of India and no other bank was targeted by the fraudsters, police confirmed.
The Cyber Crime Cell identified three ATM booths of the State Bank of India (SBI) and one of the Tripura State Cooperative Bank from where money was looted.
CCTV footage of the ATM booths was being examined to identify the criminals.
Hackers committed the fraud from Kolkata, sources said.
Tripura police appealed account holders who have visited any of four ATM booths in past couple of days to immediately change their personal identification number (PIN).
