GUWAHATI, February 22, 2020: Arunachal Pradesh, the land of rising sun has already turned into a nest of singing birds. The abode of over 30 colourful big and small tribes wakes up as soon as birds start chirping in the sky that covers the hills and valleys. This helps the state of blue hills pull more and more tourists from the country and abroad providing bread and butter to thousands of youths in this beautiful north eastern state.
Birds in this hills state keep its ecology fresh which is why, these winged creatures need to be properly taken care of. During the last couple of years, there have been some attempts to promote this sector. But lots have yet to do to achieve the goal. Need of the hour is a massive awareness campaign among millions of people to allow the winged creatures keep chirping which will help the state beckon more tourists and to promote its beautiful biodiversity.
The massive awareness campaign would replace the bird poaching with bird watching practice. Keeping these in mind, we are taking up a slew of modest attempts which include an event that would try to push up wildlife conservation, peoples’ participation and finally promoting ecotourism. The theme would be Know the Birds and Save the Wildlife in the three days event titled “Eaglenest Bird Festival” slated from March 22 at Rupa and Eaglenest Wildlife Sanctuary in West Kameng district.
The salient features of the event include seminars & presentations, children painting and art & nature photography competition, heritage walks, film screening apart from local cultural shows. Many experts working in the field of nature conservation will take part in the mega event. Dr Anuj Jain of BirdLife Asia (Singapore), Paul Insua-Cao of Royal Society for Protection of Birds, UK and Director of The Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS) Dr Deepak Apte to name a few.
It would be an occasion for the people of all walks of life to share their views and ideas with the wildlife experts and the tourism entrepreneurs will have the same amount of benefit to boost their means of livelihood. The event is being organized by Arunachal Pradesh Art & Culture Eco-Tourism Society and supported by Department of Tourism and Department of Environment and Forests, Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
