Badal Choudhury’s bail plea rejected in session court

AGARTALA, December 6, 2019: The Special Judge aka West Tripura District & Session Judge Friday rejected bail petition of Rs 640 crore PWD construction scam accused former Minister Badal Choudhury.
The CPI(M) veteran and Deputy Leader in state assembly was produced in court to hear the final order on his bail petition. Lawyers said the session’s court turned the petition citing High Court case on litigation to terminate the scam charge against Choudhury.
The Division Bench of High Court of Tripura headed by Chief Justice will deliver the verdict on December 10.
Bail application of Badal Choudhury had been earlier rejected by district court and the High Court. He was made prime accused in the PWD scam case of originally started by the Vigilance Department which was later handed over to the Crime Branch.
Another prime accused in the alleged scam, former PWD Chief Engineer Sunil Bhowmik, was arrested and secured permanent bail Thursday.
Meanwhile Chief Secretary YP Singh, who was the Principal Secretary in charge of PWD in 2008, is also wanted in this case connection, but remained elusive despite police searches in Delhi and Gurgaon city.
