346 people die in 932 road accidents in Tripura

AGARTALA, September 19, 2019: Frequent road accidents causing fatalities triggered alarm in Tripura. Just concluded session of state assembly raised concerns over the increase road accidents across the state.
346 people have died in rood tragedies between over a period of one and half year, according to an official record. It said the fatalities occurred in total 932 accidents.
The state government announced stringent measures to curb the mishaps. They are already getting implemented, officials said.
Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb recently instructed the traffic police and transport department to enforce strict traffic rules and preventive initiatives to create ‘safe road for everyone’. He also directed authorities to unleash awareness campaign to appeal people on road safety and educate them on likely punitive measures for violation of traffic rules.
In one of the measures, registration of all vehicles including battery operated rickshaws has been made mandatory. Helmet wearing for rider and passenger in back pillion, fastening seat belt for everyone traveling in a vehicle and on the spot fine are few of obligatory measures that are already in place.
